I recently installed an AM filter in my Kenwood TS-430S transceiver, and I had several questions about the instructions and results: 1. The directions instruct you to cut R-129 on the Control Unit. Just what effect does this have on the functioning of the transceiver? I might guess that it would adjust the center frequency for the AM passband, but I could not figure this out by looking at the schematic. In fact, cutting R-129 looked like it disabled at least one transistor stage. 2. Should the SSB filter be selected when the NARROW switch is turned on in AM mode? My instructions indicate that this is the case, but it appears the AM filter is used in either position. I realize that older manuals state that the NARROW switch is ineffective on AM, but mine has been modified in two places to indicate the former, and I figured that there had been a circuit change to allow this. I would like to be able to switch to the SSB filter in AM if possible. If any of you TS-430S owners know the answer to either of these questions, I surely would appreciate your mailing me the details. Incidently, I have not used the rig much yet, but it appears to be a good little transceiver in almost all respects. Thanks, Robert Stampfli (cbosgd!res) (614) 860-4268 (ATT Cornet 353-4268)
