I'm developing an application that, like most apps, will need to produce good quality printed output. We are using a Sparcstation with SunOS 4.1, OpenWindows 2.0, XView, C and C++ from Sun. We don't want to write our own drivers. I would like to find out what public-domain or commercial software is already out there that will help us develop good print features more quickly. I will summarize for the net. What I mean by "good quality output" is printing of tabular numeric data, text and numeric reports, 2- and 3-dimensional graphics to a standard laser printer using HP PCL or Postscript. The printed documents should provide some sort of modest rich text capability (page layout and multiple fonts). An important requirement is that the output routines be fast. The final system should output a page in 15 to 30 seconds max without resorting to a beefy printer. I look forward to any information that anyone can send. I will try to post a useful summary. Thanks. - Lowell -- Lowell J. Gray EcoSoft, Inc. tel: 508 651 8722 ljg@ecosoft.com 13 Priscilla Path uunet!ecosoft!ljg Wayland, MA 01778 USA
