First, thanks to all that replied to my earlier questions. I am still
receiving answers, and will post a summary.
Is there a difference in price, performance, ease of expandability, etc,
between a host adaptor/controller card/bare drive system and a host adaptor/
SCSI device setup. I have a friend that has two Tandon drives hooked to
an Adaptec 4000 and ICD host. He feels that the cost of the controller card
is more than made up in the money saved buying non-SCSI drives. Please
email answers to me, I will include them in the summary. I would also like
to hear about drive/card/host combinations that work (I have heard of some
pretty wierd ones). Also, a good source for new/refurbed drives would be
nice!
