I may have an opportunity to get a used 20meg hard drive cheaply. I'd like to add it to my current system consisting of an ICD case with host adapter and an ST157N-1. I'm pretty sure that the drive I'm getting will be MFM or RLL. I don't have an OMTI or Adaptec controller (which cost around $100, right?), so would it be possible to connect it to the SCSI controller already on the 157N? Can't the embedded controllers control two drives? I know I'd have to change some DIP swtiches or something so the host adapter can recognize the second drive. Is there anything I'd need? Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the help. If that 'cheap' Drive is an SCSI Drive, just connect it to the SCSI Bus at your ICD Hostadapter, but if that Drive is a MFM/RLL Drive, you should get an OMTI or Adaptec 40X0 or the Controlerpart from a SH205/204 or the Megafile 30/60, but you can't connect a MFM(ST506 Bus) to the SCSI Bus, you will probably damage your Drive and Hostadapter if you do it, so be careful............ by Wolfgang -- #===========================================================================# # Wolfgang Jung Email:woju@mist.UUCP # # BANG:..!tmpmbx!unlisys!image!mist!woju # #===========================================================================#
