[comp.sys.atari.st.tech] Need help on floppy drive dip switches

johns@maccs.dcss.mcmaster.ca (Conan the Barbarian) (09/20/90)

I need to know how to set the DIP switches on floppy drives
that I hacked from SS drives. One is a Matsushita and the other is an
Epson SMD400. Matsushita is the same as Panasonic, isn't it?

And, how does one set these switches to off and on? There are
two rows of 6 tiny pins and 3 clips with which any 2 adjacent pins can
be connected. Is this the way all drives work?

One other thing, is there a differet switch setting if the drive
is to be used as drive A: or drive B:?

	Thanks for any advice received.

On the Epson drives, there is usually a little diagram under the jumpers
showing what does what. For drive id selection there are four pins labeled
0,1,2,3 any of which can be connected to a central pin.

On the ST, both drive A and B should have an id of 0 as the computer decides
which one should be selected.
