The problem I had with my 1040stf was similar....but my installer caught it
before I got my machine back 3-days later...

It can be traced (imho) to the same problem that a few machines have had
with the Sprctre-GCR.

                 ****** IMPORTANT ******

The two LS-373 chips on the motherboard CANT HANDLE THE EXTRA LOAD OF
CURRENT NEEDED and thus screw everything else on the power bus up.

Once these chips were (cheaply...$10/pair) replaced, the problem
went away and the machine survived a 48-hour "burn-in" with NO ERRORS.

	Just some advice.
