I bought a new ICD 85-meg hard drive today. I changed the SCSI device number on the back to '1' (my megafile 30 is '0') and hooked it up. Unfortunately, the hard drive still thought that it was device '0'. By the time I realised this, I had badly damaged information on my megafile 30, _including_ several weeks' work on the English translation for the new Calamus SL manual. My megafile had 3 partitions, C:, D: and E:. C: is pretty trashed (the FAT is in bad shape), but that's OK. E: is fine, but it shows up as D:, and D: is missing altogether. When I use hdx, it knows that there are three partitions on the drive, but the (former) D: partition seems to be invisible to GEMDOS. That's where I have the Calamus manual which I (foolishly) did not back up to floppy. Please, how do I get GEM/GEMDOS/BIOS to recognise the partition? This is a fairly serious emergency, and I would appreciate any and all help. Please respond by mail as soon as possible, and I will summarise to the net. Thank you.
