[comp.sys.atari.st.tech] Get OPUS 2.2 Spreadsheet to work

ralph@laas.fr (Ralph P. Sobek) (11/29/90)

I know that this subject has been discussed before in one of these two
newsgroups, but I still can't get OPUS to allow me to make charts. I
have saved the messages concerning OPUS installation, all to no avail!

I have run ASSIGNER.PRG which built me the ASSIGN.SYS file at the end
of this posting. I then used FONTWID.PRG (or some such name). I
reboot and OPUS complains about incompatible printer fonts.

I have tried with either my *very* old GDOS.PRG or with AMCGDOS.PRG.
This concerns a monochrome system. I have an Epson FX-80 with only a
few printer fonts. Is that the problem?

Here's my beautiful ASSIGN.SYS file that was produced by ASSIGNER.PRG:

PATH = C:\FONTS\ ;
01p screen.sys
IBMHSS10.FNT
IBMHSS14.FNT
IBMHSS18.FNT
IBMHSS36.FNT
ATRHSS10.FNT

Thanks a lot, folks.

(etc.)

Apologies, folks. I tried mailing Ralph but the message bounced.

I think the problem doesn't have anything to do with GDOS versions. The
simplest thing to try would be to make sure there are the same number of
fonts defined in the assign.sys file for each resolution as there are
printer fonts. Also, the last four characters of each filename in each
resolution should match the last four in a printer filename. Below is
Ralph's assign.sys file amended so it should work. I've commented out
(using ';') the lines which I suspect are causing problems - assuming
the printer files listed are valid Epson printer files.
