I've been in the IBM world for about 6 years (I say that to show my ignorance of Atari STs) and I'm considering buying a 1040 ST. The deal I've got is: Atari 1040ST, Monochrome monitor, Magic Sac, Transformer (or is it Translator? ... it works in conjunction with Magic Sac??), and some other software, in trade for $150 + Mitsubishi MR535 (new) + 3 boxes of Verbatim disks + 6 6-outlet surge protectors. I don't necessarily need to get the Atari right away, but this deal won't wait for me. As a programmer, it's very possible that I'll need to upgrade the memory, and I believe the STe lets you upgrade to 4 megs within the base system. I may also need more than 512 colors on the screen, but again, this is way down the road. However, if this is an amazing deal, I certainly wouldn't want to pass it up. My question is, does this seem like too good a deal to pass up, or is it old enough that I'm better off keeping my new harddisk, $150, etc.,? In other words, how good a deal is this? Should I wait for the new stuff? Is Atari going to orphan the ST soon? Thanks for any input. Sal
