Now that Arcgsh 3.5 is out it is time to think about new features to be integrated. Something I really would like is to redirect standard output so that it goes no longer to the screen but to a GEM window. I would like to catch the character output to the screen, handle it my own way and display it in a window. This would offer some fine options: The output would not be lost when scrolled away. You could browse through the whole output - of course depending on the available memory. The output could be edited and saved to a file. You could "cut" certain portions of the text and "paste" them elsewhere. For example create a Zoo archive listing with "zoo l foo.zoo", then select one or more element names and extract the selected elements from the archive. Now my question: I am sure someone has done something like that already (at least the screen output catching as such) so that I would not have to re-invent that particular wheel. A set of routines in C or assembler would be fine. Thanks in advance! -- Dipl.-Inform. Rainer Klute klute@irb.informatik.uni-dortmund.de Univ.
