I have a home built hard drive system that uses an ICD host adapter and ICD driver software. I also have a Supercharger PC emulator. Shortly after I got the Supercharger, I found out the hard way that SC didn't behave properly with the ICD write cache. Everything would appear fine, but the SC would never purge the cache. When the system was shut off, the last thing I wrote to the disk would disappear. The obvious solution was to disable the cache. This works, but I miss the cache, especially in ST mode. Does anyone out there have any ideas on how I can get the SC to automatically purge the cache? If anyone reading this group is associated with ICD or Talon, I'd really like to hear your input. The only other solution I've come up with is to read a large file right before shutting down. This forces the cache to purge. Unfortunately, this is dangerous as I only have to forget once, and I could lose a large data file. Besides, I'm usually not the one to use PC emulation. Also, if the machine crashes or if there's a power outage, this method isn't effective. I am looking forward to hearing any replies that could help. Thanks. His address is Terry_C._Wells.ES_AE@xerox.com Apparently our news thing-a-ma-bob chopped that from the beginning of the article. Thanks, weiner -- weiner@terminator.cc.umich.edu Shakey Jake in '92!!
