I'm own an Atari 2080ST (Yes, such a beast exists - even if it says marketing sample on the bottom :-)). Here's is the catch, I want to add a blitter to it (it has the socket) but I'm missing a support chip for the blitter. Any one out there know what it is ? If I add the blitter and boot the machine it hangs half way thru the booting processing before even getting to the hard drive. Remove the blitter and all is fine. Techincal specs: Board revision: C10059 REV 2. The missing chip is a 20 pin DIP marked as U69 with it's associated capacitor marked as C98. The blitter chip is marked as U66. Both the blitter and the missing IC are near the lower right hand corner. Most of the lines that run form the blitter to the IC are in the pins 50-60 roughly as numbered on the blitter. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Nick. P.S. Atari doesn't officially support or recognize this model but any help form Atari personel would be appreciated. Allan?

My machine has the Blitter option, but have not seen any other IC's for it, But there are 2 Pads if I remember that have to be Unsoldered or is it Soldered, There was a UK. Magzine some time back that had the details on how to do it.... -- Roger W. Sheppard 85 Donovan Rd, Kapiti New Zealand...

I installed a blitter to my 1040 ST for a while ago. To get it work, you have to unsolder two jumpers, marked with "W", located near to the blitter's socket. (if I remember it correctly, above and left of the blitter. These jumpers are similar to those used to select the size of the TOS-ROMs) *** Jari Lehto, jartsu@otax.hut.fi, s37837k@saha.hut.fi ***
