This has probably been mentioned before but ... Wouldn't it be a nice idea if Atari were to assign a desktop info file entry to application use. eg. #+ APID PR#1 PR#2 ... Where #+ would be the unique (and as yet unused) identifier for an application line, APID would be for the application to identify lines that were for it, and PR#1 etc would be the parameters for the application. APID's would work in a similar way to Cookies and XBRA id's in that ones that begin with an '_' would be reserved for Atari applications (Maccel etc). This would mean that application and accessory configurations could be saved in DESKTOP.INF and reconfiguration take place with shel_get/put. (I know the buffer has a maximum size TOS 1.0-1.2 1024, TOS 1.4 4096) If Atari have not got this in mind already perhaps they would like to give it some serious consideration.
