A friend of mine has an NEC CD-ROM drive he is selling. I am wondering if I can use it with my ST. I have an ICD host adapter with an OMTI controller running a Syquest removable. Can the CD-ROM drive connect to this? If I can connect them, will CDs for the ST work in this drive? Sorry, I have no specs on the CD-ROM drive to help. If they are needed, I will get them later. Thanks for any and all help! ****************************************************************** * ************************************************************** * * * * * * * Mario D'Alessio Motorola, Inc. * * * * dalessio@motcid.UUCP Cellular Infrastructure Group * * * * * * * ************************************************************** * ******************************************************************

This is odd. The ICD transforms the ACSI-SCSI conversion and the
SQ555 is a standard SCSI-device, so no additional controller
should be needed at all.
Connecting that CD-drive should be no problem as long as it is
a SCSI-drive (which it most likely is)

It will mostly be a metter of software. If you buy the CDAR
from Atari you get something called "Metados" which allows you
to access the CD-partitions. You might get the "Scheibenkleister"
book as well and use the software of the disk inside it ;-)

You might want to check whether there are any oddities in the
SCSI-commands of the CD-drive. As you only can get SCSI-0
commands through the DMA-port, these won't hurt, though...

the information up.
