[comp.sys.atari.st.tech] MFPINT question: How does one obtain the CURRENT interupt handler?

miskinis@aisg.enet.dec.com (John Miskinis) (02/13/91)

Hi Guys and Gals!

WELL, I'm the guy who posted the problems I've had in performing
MIDI realtime input that;s 100.0000% accurate...

From the replies I've received, it has become apparent that the
entire level 6 interrupt handler must be re-written in order to accomplish
accurate realtime MIDI recording.

I've build a prototype shell that allows *MY* code to execute
when a level 6 interrupt is encountered. I'm using the XBIOS function
MFPINT to replace the standard interrupt handler.

BUT(!) How can I find out what the original vector is? It
seems that MFPINT returns NOTHING!

Boy I'm glad I didn't quit DIGITAL to persue full-time MIDI
software development for the Atari platform...

Don't be fooled by claims that XBIOS and BIOS handles MIDI for
you. It does, but not under heavy (professional) scenarios.

_John_

P.S.	I've been leary of becoming a registered Atari developer, since
I've invested ~$10,000 in equipment to persue music software
development. Paying a fee to the computer manufacturer in order
circumvent a problem (IN MY OPINION) that is inherent in the system
software, supposedly on "this computer is made for music" to
	me seems quite unrealistic.
