[comp.sys.atari.st.tech] Putting TOS 1.0 on disk

rlcollins@miavx1.acs.muohio.edu (Ryan 'Gozar' Collins) (02/23/91)

Ok, this might have come up before, but I thought I would ask.

Since I upgraded to TOS 1.4, is it possible to put 1.0 on a disk, and make
it so I can boot up with 1.0 if I need to? (I own both, so there wouldn't
be anything illegal, would there?)

There are a few games that I would like to play, that I can't now that I've
upgraded.

Thanks.......

One solution that I've seen is one that Steve La did - he took a
2-chip TOS1.4 and put that into his 6-ROM machine. Then with a clip here,
a switch there and trace there he put a 2-chip TOS1.2 (or was it 1.0?) in
and viola - a switchable 1.0 to 1.4 machine. However, he told me he would
post the docs on how to do this, but I haven't seen them anywhere. Steve,
if you are still reading the net, have you found the docs? If so, can you post
them, or if you did, where'd ya put them?

The only way _I_ know of is to use Xcopy....

Disk loadable versions of tos < (1.4,1.6,etc) would be nice. I'd like
to play StarRaiders on my Mega/Ste... :-(
