I bought a used 65Meg Tulin HD. It's a great drive, and I like it. Recently though, it's been giving me a bit of trouble. It is self-parking, but when I power it up it doesn't seem to want to unpark. I can hear it turn up to speed, then it just sits there. Sometimes it will unpark and the computer will boot after 5, maybe 10 or even 30 minutes. Last night, it wouldn't come up, even after a few hours, so I left it, and this morning it still hadn't unparked. Finally at about noon I heard the happy sound of the head moving and the computer finally booted. It seems that the delay is getting longer and longer. Is there something I can do? Is it slowly deteriorating, and one day it will just stop working altogether? What's going on? I have a program called coldstrt.prg, a couple hundred bytes. I put that in the auto folder on a disk in drive A, and then I just let it sit there and try to boot. Except for wear on the disk, this shouldn't be a problem, should it? The Tulin is just a ICD host adapter and a Seagate mechanism. I think the ICD software is version 3.01. Thanks for any help. -- John Schmitt johns@maccs.dcss.mcmaster.ca ...!unet!utai!utgpu!maccs!johns
