[comp.sys.atari.st.tech] st-writer output of european char set

clr@dgp.toronto.edu (Centre for Landscape Research) (03/07/91)

I'm wondering if anyone knows how to get foreign characters to
print out with St-Writer 3.0. At the moment, I'm using a Mega 2
hooked up to a Star NB-24-10 printer (an Epson LQ 24pin clone).
There is the XXYZZ.TXT (or something like this) file and CONFIG.TOS
file sitting around in the St-writer folder (the first is a printer
driver, the other I'm not sure about). Is there any way to
configure ST-writer to properly print foreign characters, or is
the a dip switch or two I have to flip? I've been trying to print
Hungarian characters for months now (including a' e' i' o' u'
o" u"), but I've only been getting funny characters or nothing.

Please contact me email if you run across this problem. Thanks!

Well, I don't know how to do this using your printer's character set, but
I have a product (shameless plug warning) called G-Print which prints
out ST Writer files (as well as 1st Word Plus and Word Writer) files
using GDOS fonts which makes the whole character set accessible. It has
a number of other features (including multiple fonts) upon which I will
gladly elaborate if asked. For more information, send me mail. It sells
for US$25.
