Many thanks to John, Dzung, Mark, and Derrick for their helpful input to my
flex drive problem. Upon their advice, I checked power, MMU and GLUE chips
and found all were OK. The computer still won't recognize the floppy drive
during powerup (or any time, for that matter). I hooked up an external drive
(genuine Atari), which went unrecognized, except for its existence (i.e.,
trying to format drive B did not result in the prompt to insert a disk as if
only one drive existed). That shoots the cabling theory as well. I'm left
with the floppy controller chip (WD1772). I don't want to mess around with my
one working ST, so I need a source for this chip. Any suggestions?
P.S. I did listen very carefully and, yes, the drive DOES spin when accessed
and the light DOES come on, but that's all.
