[comp.sys.atari.st.tech] AHDI in auto folder: no auto PRG's executed

dick@ahds.UUCP (Dick Heijne CCS/TS) (05/01/91)

A while ago I posted this cry for help about the fact that when I
placed AHDI.PRG as the first program in the AUTO folder, no other
programs which were placed there were executed.
The problem has been solved. Thanks to all people who responded !
A summary of the solutions follow:

I placed AHDI.prg in the AUTO folder of the harddisk. The reason
I did that, was that the manual was not very clear about the
subject and I didn't read it exactly to the letter. Reading mail
of several people who responded, I am not the only one!

Well, AHDI should NOT be placed on the AUTO folder. The driver.sys
file in the root directory is the real driver and includes AHDI.
The AHDI.prg program is solely needed to place on FLOPPIES if you
want harddrive support, but boot from a floppy.
So, when I removed AHDI.prg from the AUTO folder, all problems
   vanished.

The reason that the problem evcer occured is, that AHDI, when
ececuted in an AUTO folder, re-initialises GEM, so all other
programs in this folder will NOT be executed.

Thanks to all of you who responded. You were a wonderful audience.

Dick.
