[comp.sys.atari.st.tech] 3 1/2 Questions in 1

goldthor@parc.xerox.com (Stephen Michael Goldthorpe) (05/07/91)

Here are 3 (and a bit) questions for all you ST experts,

I'm writing a program to read MIDI data, I heard that the MIDI buffer is a bit
small for MIDI data comming in at a fast rate (like a sequencer dump).
a) Is this true and,
b) would I get around the problem by doing something like this:
		(Turn off interupts - how?)
get Iorec & replace with bigger buff
		(turn interupts back on).

In sections of GEM programs I've seen, people usually check for GDOS and set up
the virtual workstation stuff up slighty different if it exists. Is this
necessary and why?

Are there any 'good' source GEM programs available on the net (terminator etc),
as this would help me work out why my own code doesn't work at the moment
(learning GEM without a book 'aint much fun).

				Thanks,
