Hello Atari fans... I was asked to have a look at a friend's atari 520-STE which had died, it had a severe power supply fault which involved the main fuse blowing in a rather impressive manner. I am assuming at this stage that the transformer is at fault (a resistance test seems to confirm this). However the problem is that the transformer is a rather strange looking beast which may well be impossible to source here in oz. I rang the Australian parts distributer who claim that they can only supply the power supply as a whole and they want AUS$170 for it. Now I reckon that this is a bit steep as I can pick up a whole machine second hand for about AUS $400. What I was wondering was if it would be possible to source the transformer overseas, or perhaps the whole power supply at a reasonable price. At this stage I am open to suggestions. If anyone in Oz has any ideas that would be even better.
