[comp.sys.atari.st.tech] Mint and minix filesystem.

erlingh@sigyn.idt.unit.no (Erling Henanger) (06/02/91)

I'm having trouble with mint not recognizing my minix partitions. I
currently have mint 0.8 compiled with the newest libraries and include
files. I wouldn't consider this too strange, if it wasn't for the fact
that it recognizes floppies... Also, the minit program worked just
fine, but as soon as I try to read the minix-partition, no way !
Btw, my harddisk is formatted with ahdi 3.1, but without extended
partitions. It's an atari megafile 60.
So to a slightly different question. When using bash or ksh from MiNt,
every now and then the shell locks up. It doesn't crash, it just waits
for something, and I can get it to continue if I send it a sigcont.
Now this is no big crisis if I run mgr, cause then I can send the
blocking shell a signal from another shell. However, if I use any of
these shells standalone and they lock up, I can't do anything but
press ctrl-alt-delete. I guess it has to be something wrong with these
shells, because it has happened in all versions of mint since 0.6, and
it happens on both my TT and my TOS 1.4 equipped mega-ST.
It never happens with init.prg, but with ksh or bash it happens after
about 50 commands (sometimes sooner/later/never).
Anyone else experienced this ??? anyone got any ideas of what is
happening ?
Help !

I've recently posted a problem with ksh and ./ files on a mixix
partition. I also this weekend had a whole Minix Partition (admittedly
only run via minit and MiNT) simply have all its files *vanish* (No
smiley). I am only running some antique TOS version though (1.2 or less).

I don't have the time at the moment to go delving into source code, so
any help would be much appreciated.
