I finally got around to looking at that list of Novice questions and answers that was posted here a while ago. My question is: Where did the answers come from and why are there a bunch of wrong answers (or am I going crazy)? Question 2A-20.3 asks what the prefixes are for callsigns assigned by the FCC. The given answer is "AA to AM, K, N and W". But "AM" is wrong. The right answer is "AA to AL, ...". Questions 2A-23.1 through 2A-23.8 deal with identification. The key question is 2A-23.3, "Do the FCC Rules require an amateur radio station to identify at the beginning of a transmission?" The given answer is "Yes". But the real answer is "Unfortunately, no. This requirement was dropped a while back when identification requirements were relaxed. At this time, the requirement to identify the party with whom you are in contact was also dropped." All the other questions about "How many times must you identify..." are wrong, since their answers say you need to identify at the beginning. I haven't gone through the whole list, so I don't know how many other errors there are. Does anyone know the source of these answers? Am I wrong about any of the above? I was going to give a copy of the list to a prospective amateur, but I think I'd better not. Or at least tell him that he shouldn't trust the answers. /Rcc
