I have a Kenwood TR-7950 in my '84 Honda Accord LX hatchback. I mounted the rig under the center of the dash, by rigidly bolting the "quick-release" mounting bracket to the underside of a small plastic panel underneath the lighter/ashtray/cruise-control stuff. The mike hangs on a plastic hook (kitchen-type dishtowel or potholder hook) glued to the front of the ashtray. This works fine, except that vibrations from the road cause the rig to vibrate -- resulting in "squeaky-creaky" sounds as said small plastic panel jiggles slightly. Obviously, this particular panel was not inten- ded to bear any kind of load (least of all a TR-7950 attached to it!). I tried wrapping electrical tape around the little plastic tabs that protrude from the plastic panel and hold it in; this dampened the noise a bit, but not much. Mounting the Kenwood in the dash, in place of the AM/FM radio, is out of the question: it won't fit, and in any case I like to have an AM/FM radio in my car! (Please, no flames about car stereo quality.) Does anyone have some better idea I might try (either some way to damp the vibrations, or some other place to mount the rig)? Most appreciated would be case histories from people who have actually mounted a TR-7950 (or similar rig) in a Honda Accord (or similar car) -- but I would wel- come any input. Mail directly to me if possible; I will summarize to the net in a couple of weeks. -- -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Rich Wales University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Computer Science Department 3531 Boelter Hall Los Angeles, California 90024 // USA -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Phone: (213) 825-5683 // +1 213 825 5683 ARPANET: wales@UCLA-LOCUS.ARPA UUCP: ...!{cepu,ihnp4,trwspp,ucbvax}!ucla-cs!wales -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
