I run wave on VAXes running VMS (wave 3.03) and have seen the same problem. The only solution is device, retain=2. I spoke with wave because even the menus would not be backed without the device call above. They told me it was a bug which should be fixed by the next release (late summer) at the latest. >I am having a problem with backing store in PV-WAVE 3.03 under X windows.
We have the same problem, running under Ultrix V2.1 on DECStation 3100's.
Also, we have a problem with Wave crashing the color terminal and booting off
the user, especially when running the demos. PV~Wave told ME that the problem
was a bug in ULTRIX -- note that now that I have Ultrix 4.1 running on a
DECStation 5000, I have not seen the crash occur. I have not tested the backing
store problem exhaustively, so I'm not sure if the solution to our problems is in
the hardware or the operating system change
