We installed Version 3 of PV-WAVE on our VAX cluster and a DECstation 3100 a couple of months ago, replacing earlier versions of WAVE on both systems. With the earlier version of WAVE on our VAX, I had written a FORTRAN routine which enabled us to load data from an Rdb database directly into WAVE. I had LINKIMAGEd this routine into WAVE so it looked like an ordinary WAVE command. When I tried to run this routine with the new version of WAVE, fatal errors occurred. A month ago I called the PV-HELP line, reported my problems, and e-mailed them a copy of my FORTRAN source program. They responded by sending me copies of two reference guides: "PV-WAVE Utility Routines" and "PV-WAVE Guide to Using Linkimage". Thanks a lot PV! Even the examples in these references do not run (specifically the examples on pages D-5 and D-30) under Version 3 on our VAX. Two weeks ago I was told my problem had been turned over to "responsive engineering". I am here to tell you that is a misnomer. I am still awaiting a response. Is there anyone on the net who has succeeded in linking and running a FORTRAN routine under WAVE Version 3? I could use your help. By the way, REFORM does not work on the DECstation version and POINT_LUN works one way on the VAX and a different way on the DECstation. On these issues the HELP line sent me a new version of REFORM and has given me no response (in over a week now) on the POINT_LUN problem. I feel the help we have received from Precision Visuals since the release of WAVE Version 3 has been miserable. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ | Vince Scullin | Never attribute to malice that | | Scientific Data Applications Branch | which can be adequately explained | | NASA Lewis Research Center | by ignorance. | | Cleveland, Ohio 44135 uuvince@venus.lerc.nasa.gov (Vince Scullin) | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
