[comp.protocols.time.ntp] configuration questions

tharen@prism.gatech.edu (Tharen Debold) (07/11/90)

I've got a few questions regarding configurations... right now our
configuration here consists of 2 machines (stratum 2?) which get their
time from umd1.umd.edu (2 hops away). We then have certain machines
designated as subservers (level 3?) that basically serve cluster areas.

Is this the correct nomenclature for things? Should I have two machines
getting the time from umd1.umd.edu, or just one? Should I (god forbid) go
somewhere else in addition? We're planning on putting in a radio clock in
the near future, should we still look at umd1?

# Configuration file for level 2 machines
server umd1.umd.edu
# peer radar.gatech.edu
peer chase.gatech.edu

# Configuration file for level 3 machines
#
peer radar.gatech.edu
peer chase.gatech.edu

Thanks,
    Tharen
