I have ham plates from Calif. I paid something like $25 for them the first time. There does not appear to be a reoccuring charge each year. Its my understanding that vanity plates have a special charage each year, but ham plates are one time only. -- Doug WA6VVV

Ham plates in California cost $15 initially (up from $3 before 1979), with no yearly charge. They cost $7 to transfer them to another vehicle. Vanity plates cost something like $25 (blue) or $30 (reflective white) initially with a $10 yearly charge. --Brad N6BDE -------
