[comp.protocols.time.ntp] ntp -v load on server

beh@bass.bu.edu (Bruce E. Howells) (01/27/91)

Planning to put a ntp -v [localserver] call in an alias - more as a "what
is the REAL time" sort of thing than any practical purpose.

Our local ntp server is pretty heavily loaded, as it's the mail and news
gate for all of *.bu.edu as well.

My question is how much load does a ntp -v call place on a server? Am I
forcing a resync, or does it just spit a packet back at me?

Thanks-
