A week or so ago I said: > I got three messages today like: > > Feb 23 12:59:40 sardion xntpd[96]: Previous time adjustment didn't complete on a Sun SLC running SUNOS 4.1.1. and the only responses I received were requests to forward any answers. I have not, to date, received any explanation of why this happened. Having an inquiring mind which wanted to know, I looked in the code. The error message is printed when xntpd does one of its every-4-seconds adjustments and then finds that not all of the previous adjustment had been done yet. I talked to Sun and found out that an early version of SUNOS 4.1.1 had a bug in adjtime() which would not complete adjustments under certain circumstances. For me, it happened when one of the programs was giving the system a run for the money. Anyway, the part number of my tape is 700-2687-10 Rev. A. The next revision should have the fix in it. The bug number is 1036401, in case anyone is interested. There you go, Maree and Derick and anyone else who might have been interested. -- Russell Mosemann Internet: mosemann@crcvms.unl.edu Network Analyst Bitnet: mosemann@unlvax1 Computing Resource Center UUCP: ..!uunet!hoss.unl.edu!mosemann University of Nebraska - Lincoln Voice: (402) 472-5930 Fax: 472-5280
