[comp.protocols.time.ntp] Novice questions

richman@reepicheep.sws.uiuc.edu (Mike Richman) (03/19/91)

I installed the louie.udel.edu makefiles on a Sun Sparcstation 1+
running SunOS 4.1.1. After some local help, we got the daemon
running. Here are two questions:

1. About once an hour I get the following type of message (example
   below):

 Mar 18 12:03)04 reepicheep xntpd[6271]: Previous time adjustment didn't
 complete

Is this a problem? If not, how can I make it go to /dev/null or some
system file which gets erased in crontab?

2. I was told that the /etc/rc* files ought to be editted. Can someone
provide more specifics of what to edit in the files?

Thanks.
