I started ntpd on my eight machines. They set the clock once and then exited. Is that what is supposed to happen? I have "peer umd1.umd.edu" in my /etc/ntp.conf file. How do I keep ntpd running permanantly on one of my machines? That way my remaining machines can sync off that one which can in turn sync off umd1.umd.edu. Thanks Ravi Kolagotla

The ntpd process should keep running after it sets the clock. If it exits, then something is very wrong. Everything else sounds like its ok. louie
