Subj:	RE: New Hampshire hams need your Support to pass a law for us

To all New Hamshire Hams and Hams Across the Nation!

My name is Pete Virgona N1DHD ex KA2KSR/1. Over the last year
I have been trying to get the New Hampshire Legislature to get
pass a law to get ham plates at a
reduce rate. the current rate is $25.00 and it is clasified as a vanity plate.
We want to have the plates clasified as special plates and reduce the fee to
$10.00 for the first year then $5.00 for the rest of the time.
Please send your letters to gov sununu at the State house in concord n.h.
 03301
to your local state rep and to Rep Phil LaBombardi W1OMZ , at
60 Indian Rock Rd Nashua NH

there was a bill intoduced in 1981 HR292-FN which was knocked down but
I have gotten about 350+ petitions signed and sent to Gov Sununu and
 Richard Flyn Commisioner of Safety.

The time is getting near so your letter are a must!!

Please help our Cause !

I have the ARRL sending a letter also.

we need this.

Why should we have to pay $25.00 while national guard pay only $3.00??

thanks !

I have ham plates from Calif. I paid something like $25 for them the
first time. There does not appear to be a reoccuring charge each year.
Its my understanding that vanity plates have a special charage each
year, but ham plates are one time only.

Ham plates in California cost $15 initially (up from $3 before 1979), with
no yearly charge. They cost $7 to transfer them to another vehicle.
Vanity plates cost something like $25 (blue) or $30 (reflective white)
initially with a $10 yearly charge.

My problem is that I can't get tags for my car bearing both the
fire department insignia and my call letters. I have to choose
one or the other. Even though FD tags are 4 dollars cheaper a
year I go for HAM TAGS. More indicative of who I am, but I am
always explaining to gas station attendants what they are as they
write them down on the credit slip. There are also legal reasons
why I want to keep my anonymity about being a fire fighter while
driving down the road.

In addition to call letters, Illinois ham plates have the
words HAM RADIO embossed on them. If a thief didn't see any
signficance in the plate AJ9S, this extra verbage may help
attract his attention. :-)
