[net.ham-radio] shortwave receivers for automobiles

I have been listening to some transmissions on the 6 and 7 Mhz bands in my
car using an oscillator/frequency converter i built some years ago. since
i find myself enjoying it again, i would like to know if there are auto
receivers (preferably with digital tuning) available in this country.
I have been told that there are european recievers (blaupunkt, becker?)
like this but have never seen one. Can anyone help?

                     Thanks!

Well, there is the Blaupunkt Berlin receiver (about $1200), which is
a really good AM/FM/SW receiver with tape transport. The radio tuning
part is on a stalk that sticks up. I've never seen one but I've
heard its pretty awsome. Most car radios in europe have longwave,
but SW is less common. I am also looking for a car stereo type
installation, and would like shortwave capability, but thats not
in demand in the US apparently. I have an MFJ converter, but thats
really not very satisfactory (and requires an analog tuned radio
to work)

Blaupunkt makes a car-stereo/tape-player that also receives the
short-wave broadcast bands. I don't know the model number, but I saw
one once in a Porshe 928--I think it came as standard equipment (?).
