Having been off the air for several years, I have the urge to set up a shack again. The new generation of synthesized rigs look very attractive for several reasons. The inclusion of a general coverage receiver is nice because the XYL is interested in listening to shortwave broadcasts (I hope the first step toward a ham ticket). The ICOM 751 looks good on paper, but I've heard it is prone to reliability problems. Any feedback on the new ICOM, Kenwood, and Yaseau rigs would be most appreciated. Futhermore, if anyone has any recommendations as to a dealer within a several hour driving radius of NY who is competent and has low prices, that would also be most helpful. Any comments about Barry in NYC or Harrison on Long Island? Many thanks Tom Swift WA2JEH Colts Neck, NJ
