The FT757 has an optional RS232 interface that I'm interested in. Therefore the following questions: 1) Does anybody in netland have it ? 2) If so, could you describe its capabilities and how you are using it. 3) If you don't have it, but have more info on it, please let me know. regards NI7M tektronix!iddic!brucec

And speaking of RS232 Interfaces, does anyone have the one for the ICOM R71-A receiver? Or specs? My Macintosh is waiting... David Sullivan New York University sullivan@nyu.ARPA ...!ihnp4!cmcl2!sullivan

BRUCE, I HAVE A 757 THAT I HAVE BEEN "TALKING" TO VIA MY XEROX 820-II COMPUTER FOR SOME TIME NOW. I DESIGNED MY OWN INTERFACE USING A MOTOROLA MC1489 AND A RAT SHACK OPTICAL ISOLATOR. I OUTPUT FROM THE 820-II COMM PORT (RS232) TO THE HOME BREW INTERFACE THEN INTO THE RICE BOX. WORKS GOOD BUT I AM NOT COMPLETELY SATISFIED WITH THE SOFTWARE I GENERATED TO HANDLE ALL THE OPERATING FUNCTIONS OF THE 757. IT IS NOT WHAT THE AVERAGE BEAR WOULD TERM AS BEING "USER FRIENDLY". THEREFORE, I AM IN THE PROCESS OF REWRITING. AS FAR AS ACTUAL PWA FROM YAESU, I HAVE NEVER INQUIRED. REGARDS, W5PUT--VAL L. ERWIN

I have a FT757 and I didn't buy the RS232 interface. The interface is only a level translator and can be replaced by a diode, transistor, and a resistor. I have made such a thing and it works very well.(see one of the later issues of 73 for a circuit) The commands that you use to talk to the interface are all explained in a book, that should have come with the interface called "Technical Supplement". If it didn't come with the radio you can get one from yeasu for $5.00 and a copy of your sales slip. If you have lost the sales slip then it will cost you $15.00. This book also includes schmetics, parts list, board layout, and calibration infor- mation. Hope this was some help. 73s Dirk KD7UB
