I have two floppies in my machine (386, AT bus). A 1.44M 3.5" as A: and a 1.2M 5.25" as B:. When one accesses a floppy drive with no disk in it, usually the harderror message pops up. When I do this on B:, everything works. When accesssing A: with no disk, the harderror pops up once. The next time I access A: again with no disk in the drive (or during one of the next times) the whole system hangs. When trying Ctrl-Esc, Alt-Tab and so on, the machine eventually starts beeping (and does not stop beeping) and not even Ctrl-Alt-Delete reboots. I have to press the Reset switch or three times Ctrl-Alt-NumLock and the Ctrl-Alt-Delete. All this occures only with the 3.5" 1.44M drive A:. Does anyone know whats going on there ? Sometimes, I have also problems accessing A: even with a disk in it. When doing "DIR A:", the harderror pops up with "drive not ready" even when a disk is correctly inserted. Retrying usually solves this. This does NEVER occur when entering "A:" and then "DIR". The same drive does not cause any problems under DOS and Windows 3.0.
