[comp.os.os2.misc] Whose BIOS is compatible with OS/2

burton@mitisft.Convergent.COM (Philip Burton) (08/07/90)

I am about to buy a 386/333 MHz motherboard upgrade. I've heard some
horror stories lately about incompatibility between OS/2 and various BIOSes.

Can anyone comment on this situation? Specifically has anyone had problems
with OS/2 (you name the version) on a motherboard with an AMI BIOS?

How about on an actual AMI motherboard?

Zowie! When you get that running, let me know. Any machine with a
3 nanosecond clock period that doesn't use liquid nitrogen cooling has got to
be something. Maybe this is the Cray PC/MP?

:-)

I'm running IBM OS/2 v 1.2 on an ALR with a Phoenix bios and Microsoft
OS/2 version 2.0 on a noname clone with an AMI bios. Make sure that
the keyboard controller is the KD revison level since in the K8
version the arrow keys do not always work.
(OBTW both machines are 386sx.)
