[comp.os.os2.misc] OS/2 Drivers

dennett@usage.csd.unsw.oz.au (Dennett Jaques) (08/10/90)

Thanks to all who responded to my request for help.

I should have supplied more details like the ones below....
Machine is 286/20 NEAT, Pheonix BIOS V4.0, Adaptec 2372B, Mitsubishi 65M HD
4 Meg RAM, Genius Mouse.

When I run the install disk for MS OS/2 1.21, the machine gets as far as giving me the MS OS/2 message at the top of the screen. There is a bit of floppy disk
access after that and you can hear the head moving back and forwards. Then the
head movement in the floppy ceases but the diskette continues to spin in its
jacket. Thats it! { can leave it like that for hours and nothing changes. The
diskette continues to spin with no head movement.

The machine cannot be warm booted at this time and requires a hardware reset.

Following some of your suggestions, I brought home three keyboards from work
and tried each one but with no success.

Also, I used DEBUG to probe around in my BIOS to look for the machine submodel
descriptor byte at F000:E6F5 which was apparantly cause for some problems in
previous OS/2 versions but that was OK.

So the problem still exists. Any more suggestions anyone.

  Cheers.

  Dennett Jaques.
