Soon I'm going to update from OS/2 EE 1.1 to OS/2 EE 1.2 Because the HPFS-filesystem is a new feature of version 1.2, I would like some advise from people who are already using 1.2. My hardware: IBM PS/2 Model 50Z-061 80286 zero wait-status 6 Mb memory harddisk 60 Mb, partitioned C: 32 Mb D: 28Mb I have been told version 1.2 EE will take about 23 Mb (without com. manager) on my harddisk (nearly my whole current C-disk) My question is : 1) Should I use the HPFS-filesystem, or is the normal FAT better for me ? 2) Because I think HPFS is not much faster then FAT (ON MY SYSTEM), the only reason of using HPFS would be the long file-names. Can I still use files with long names in the DOS-box ? 3) In case of the HPFS: What's the best way to partition my harddisk ? (e.g. C-disk 32 Mb FAT, D-disk 28 Mb HPFS or C-disk 25 Mb FAT, D-disk 35 Mb HPFS) You can contact me by e-mail: mabdoor@cs.vu.nl Thanks! ________________________________________________________________________ | "By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail" /| /| / \ | / | / | / | | mabdoor@cs.vu.nl VU Amsterdam, Holland / | / | / | |______________________________________________________/___|/___|/_____/
