[comp.os.os2.misc] OS/2 FTP Sites

n8840371@unicorn.WWU.EDU (Todd Crowe) (08/15/90)

I moved to a new computer recently and seemed to have lost my list of FTP
sites which contain OS/2 programs. Please email me if you know of any
(the only one I recall is uwasa.fi).

By the way, since I'm on the subject - would anyone like to set up/join an
informal email list through which we could trade OS/2 programs? Like
comp.binaries.os2 but with more volume. I know there's a lot of software
out there, it's just on bulletin boards in California...

Thanks for your support.

About two weeks ago I requested a list of sites from which to FTP OS/2
programs. Following is a summary of the information I received:

---
Kent Williams - williams@umaxc.weeg.uiowa.edu williams@herky.cs.uiowa.edu

|colin@novell.com sez:
|> Kent, I'll be setting up an ANONYMOUS FTP OS/2 archieve within the
|> next three weeks. I'll be posting the address to the net when it's
|> ready. In the mean time you can try 128.120.57.1.
|
|mattes@azu.informatik.uni-stuttgart.de sez:
|>TeX (including METAFONT, drivers, and ...) for OS/2 is available
|>for anonymous ftp from terminator.cc.umich.edu, directory
|>msdos/text-mgmt/TeX/emtex. Other OS/2 stuff is available from the
|>same machine in the os2 directory.
---
Alan Ballard - ballard@staff.ucs.ubc.ca

|There is some stuff available via anon FTP from mtsg.ubc.ca; enter "cd os2:"
|then "dir".
|
|This isn't intended to be a complete archive... I install programs there
|that seem likely to be useful to some of our clients here, and leave out
|a lot of junk.
---
Tom Haapanen - tom@mims-iris.waterloo.edu

|mims-iris.waterloo.edu (129.97.129.116) has an archive of comp.binaries.os2.
|
|Incidentally, I will gladly post more os/2 software -- as long as someone
|sends it to me first!
---
Bob Goodearl -- goodearl@world.std.com

|Please let me know what you find. Also, since there is no discussion
|group for comp.binaries.os2, do you know where I'd request info? One of the
|parts of a recent posting seems to have come through damaged.
---

I also suggested setting up a OS/2 program mailing list. Upon further
reflection (and advice from fellow readers), I now understand that
comp.os.os2.binaries is the proper forum.
