[comp.os.os2.misc] OS/2 - UNIX Development Platform Comparison

brahms@NECAM.tdd.sj.nec.com (George Skillman) (08/24/90)

I'm doing a comparison of OS/2 and UNIX as software development platforms.
At the moment, I'm still doing the research and was wondering if anyone
out there has seen or done a similar comparison. If so, would you be
kind enough to share it with me? I'm particularly interested in these
areas:

     Software Tools
     Kernel APIs
     Windowing Systems
     Price
     Device Drivers

Thanks in advance for your help.

I have been using the MKS toolkit for development on OS/2. This is a collection
of unix tools (vi, grep, awk etc ...) that has been ported (re-written ??)
to OS/2. This has enabled me to make the transition from unix code development
to OS/2 development relatively painless. MKS (Mortice Kern Systems Inc.) can be
reached at (519) 884-2251.
