[comp.os.os2.misc] dual boot sug, COM3 request & 1.21 news

SPGJAF@CMSA.BERKELEY.EDU (Joseph A. Faracchio {415} 642-7638 {w}) (12/09/90)

I use DOS and os/2 SE on the same machine. I like the DUAL BOOT program
that (the now defunct) PC Tech Journal published for Sept 1988.

It asks which one and then times out to whatever you chose as the default
during the install process. I use it with Dos 3.3, I heard it fails with 4.0

I have a requirement to use three com ports and so would also like to see
the patches for getting COM0x.sys to work on my clone AT with COM3.

About IBM's OS/2 v1.2 there were two versions although they weren't publicized.
I have both copies in my hand right now. The manuals are the same but the
disks are coded like this:

'1.20' says 57f1716 on the install disk in the upper right corner.
'1.21' says * 6/90 in the lower left corner and 84F8563* in the upper
and it has some MONO -fonts that I needed that 1.20 was missing.

I had to go out and get a second copy from 800-Software because last summer
my IBM rep sold me the obsolete copy and wouldn't track the new copy for me.

A pretty lousy deal and the only comment I got was that IBM would send me
an upgrade request form if I sent in the registration. I still waiting.
Fortunately I'm not holding my breath while I wait. :-)

.. cheers .. joe.f.
P.S> I'm also waiting for this rep to send me the 1.3 upgrade forms.
