[net.ham-radio] IC-22S operation below 146MHz

louie@umd5.UUCP (04/29/85)

I've just picked up a used ICOM IC-22S 2m rig at the Dayton Hamvention (it
was good this year too) for use in my packet radio station. The packet
activity here is on 145.01 MHz. Here are the two problems:

1 - the rig is only specifie to operate from 146 to 148 MHz. Will
it work below 146? If not, what do I have to do to make it
	    work?

2 - the 145.01 frequency does not fall on its 15kHz channel
spaceing. I assume that I can diddle the VCO reference
oscilator to correct this. Note that I'm not interested in
operating this rig on any other frequencies. At least not
	    now.

Just to jog your memory, the IC-22S is the 22 channel diode progammable
mobile rig that ICOM marketed about 4 or 5 years ago. About 10 watts,
146-148MHz on 15KHz channels.
