The most recent issue of PC Magazine had an short review article in its "First Looks" section on OS/2 1.3. They mention that some incompatibilities were discovered between 1.2 and 1.3 in that some PM applications developed for 1.2 had difficulties running on 1.3. Not that they failed to run, but that there were nagging little problems with specific features that didn't work properly or caused exceptions when there were no problems on 1.2. No specific examples were given though. Have any of the people who've received and installed their OS/2 1.3 upgrades noticed any of this and with which programs/features, etc? I'm interested in Smalltalk V/PM in particular, but I think most people reading the newsgroup would be interested to note your experiences with other software that had some sort of problem.

I upgraded to 1.3 ee about a month ago, I think my copy of 1.3 is still some sort of prerelease. Everithing worked fine (I didn't even lost my desktop settings). There was one noteworthy exception: The Microsoft Word 5.0 installation program refused to install word on it. Word itself works like a charm (installed in on a 1.2 machine and transferred the files). It is funny that the only thing which failed was a Microsoft product... Besides that I'm running quite a lot of pm programs (editor, diary, database, etc.) Markus -- Markus Baertschi | markus@cernvm.cern.ch CERN (European Particle Research Center) Geneva, Switzerland
