In <2982@hsi86.hsi.com> >As far as I am aware, the only tape backup software for OS/2 is that >supplied by Sytron (phone 508-898-0100). So you are limited to the >drives they support. Microsoft bundles this software with LAN Manager 2.0. >As I recently got a list from them of the drives they support -- here it is: [Bunch of drives listed] I have an unsupported drive (Core Tapelight) and called Sytron. The nice people there told me they were "interested and investigating" the Core devices. No dates really (maybe 6 months) but they are influenced by the demand they hear. So call them and let them know what device you want, even if it's not Core. They'll put you on a list and let you know when something happens or if you don't hear anything in 3-6 months call them back and ask. I'm hoping that they'll have a driver for my device soon but any extra support for OS/2 would be better than none. So call and let them know what you want. P.S. By the way, the Core Tapelight works great under DOS and has a nifty DOS device support so I can use the tape as a big (slow) disk. Windows 3.0 has some timing problem and the device times out so I have to exit Windows to use it, but at least I can use it. Now if only it would work under OS/2.
