So the reason for the God/men/women/children hierarchy is that women are more easily deceived than men, huh? I expect to see a few well-aimed flames for that statement (well-deserved, too). Seems to me that it was the devil that talked Eve into biting the forbidden fruit. The devil, folks, a master of trickery and deceit. Seems to me that Eve can hardly be blamed for being taken in. Adam, on the other hand, was persuaded to take a bite by Eve, an innocent (albeit nubile) newcomer to the Enchanted Forest. Seems to me that Adam was the most easily deceived. But then, I'm probably wrong. I view the Bible as a collection of stories -- beautiful, interesting, and often teaching us valuable lessons. What I DON'T do is read things that aren't there. I don't fret over meanings or twist them to suit my own needs. But then, I probably should, because I too could justify calling women second-class human beings. I can only conclude that my upbringing was deficient. I've coasted along all these years assuming women are my equals, and I've been happy in my ignorance. Little did I suspect that women are more easily deceived than I. And never ONCE did any of the women in my life ever tell me different -- but then, you know how women are... Mike Lynch mhuxi!macrev
