[comp.os.os2.misc] System detects interrupt that cannot be masked.

I'm having problems with file transfers that result in the above message and a
total system shutdown on OS/2 running on a 486. Can anyone give me some
ideas what might be causing this message? It is driving me crazy trying
to track it down.

Some additional information. I've had problems with copying files to/from
floppies and the hard disk, to/from floppies and a VDISK. Just doing a DIR on
the hard disk (though this latter VERY rarely). I've had problems with two
different 486 motherboards, (which have two different BIOS's) with two
different IDE interface cards, two different floppy controllers, and with both
OS/2 1.2 and OS/2 1.3. I can't think of anything else to vary!

When copying a specific file fails, trying again later on the same file will
always cause another failure. A different file of the same size, however, may
just copy correctly. For instance, I can install OS/2 1.2 from floppies, but
not 1.3.
