I am currently investigating buying a 486 based machine in the UK. The spec would be something like: 486 at 25Mhz 8MB of RAM 388 MB Hard disk 5.25 floppy 3.5 floppy Super VGA Plus the usual bits like keyboard and power supply! I intend running OS/2 1.2 EE on the machine. Unfortunately the people who can sell me this beast don't sell a version of OS/2. But they say that IBMs version will run with no problems. Is this true? Can I buy 1.2EE or even 1.3EE from IBM and expect it to work on the clone with no problems?? If it can then why do some manufacturers offer a version of 1.xEE, is it just a case of repacking it? If there are problems how can I solve them? DO I have to try and find special drivers etc..... Any help would be really appreciated.

We have no problems with it. I would urge you, though, to spend the extra money for more memory -- try 16mb. You'll appreciate the reqults. Also, make sure that you get a Super VGA card that has drivers for 1.3 (or 1.21 -- I think they're the same drivers); many cards do not have them. -scott e. garfinkle
